FAQ
What is a Halal certification?
Halal certification confirms that a product or facility complies with Islamic dietary laws and requirements. At HMCA, this process involves a thorough product review and facility audit before issuing a certification.
Which foods are Halal?
Halal foods are those permitted under Islamic dietary laws. Generally, this includes meat and poultry that are slaughtered according to Halal guidelines, most types of fish and seafood, fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy products that do not contain non-Halal additives. Many packaged foods and beverages can also be considered Halal, provided all ingredients and production methods meet Halal standards.
Foods that are not Halal include pork and pork by-products, animals not slaughtered in accordance with Halal practices, alcohol, and any foods containing alcohol, as well as products with gelatin or enzymes derived from non-Halal sources. Because ingredients and sourcing can vary widely, HMCA carefully reviews both product formulations and facility operations to ensure full compliance before certification is granted.
Who can apply for certification?
Businesses of all sizes across food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, supplements, and other product categories are welcome to apply. You do not need to be a Muslim-owned business to be certified.
